A genius maybe?

I have recently come across Nicolas Jaar and I have to say that I am pretty much in love with his music…

I don’t think I can exactly describe his music… ok let me try… It’s a mix of deep/chill out/ethereal /jazzy/afro sort of house music but it still does not fit in any of those categories… He’s only 22 but his work has such depth, it is very different from most I’ve heard so far… I guess all I can say is go and have a listen, he put out an album last year “Space is only noise” which is brilliant but my favourite set has to be the XLR8R Podcast by him.

Explorar Sevilla…

Hola! My parents decided we should go on a mini road trip to the south of Portugal to Algarve and while  there we jumped the frontier to Spain for a quick visit to Sevilla and Cadiz 🙂

It was a quick visit (only 2 days) and we spent most of the time in Sevilla which is beautiful, traditional, charming all at once… The food wasn’t the best as we were there only for a day (maybe I need to go back and explore more) but I loved walking around the cobbled streets looking at the Roman/Moorish inspired architecture.

On the night we arrived they were holding the Velá (night) of Santa Ana which is held in the sailor’s neighborhood of Triana… They had delicious fried fish and seafood…

I tried picking up the best pictures from the massive bunch I have and still ended with a massive post sorry about that :s… Regardless Sevilla is beautiful and I now wish we had stayed longer so I could explore the city better… but oh well there’s always a next time 😉

This post has been long due! So I was lucky enough to attend Erikah Badu’s concert in the Cascais Jazz fest this year and there is only one word to describe it… Amazing!

She has been in the business for as long as I can remember and her voice is still smooth and soulful as back in her early days… She’s so eclectic and… cool… I think she’s the true definition of coolness ;)…

She did a range of her old successes, slow and upbeat tracks with lots of drums and cool moves in the mix…

Truly a night to remember so if you get the chance go see this lady because she is truly the legend…!

…one of the best albums out so far this year…

This post has been long due, but I guess I have been too distracted with the actual album and enjoying my holidays 🙂

Frank Ocean’s debut album is pretty flawless and I have to say it has been on repeat since I downloaded it a few weeks ago. It’s a melodic, fresh, fun, serious even a tiny bit electronic mix of tunes that you can listen from start to end and not want to skip one track.

I recommend the whole album (of course!) but big highlights to “Thinking about you” (which probably most people know), “Sweet life” (one of my favourites), “Super rich kids”, “Crack rock”, “Lost” and “Monks”.. so if you haven’t listened to this album yet, download it asap because you ARE missing out!
